Our Story

Founded by Dr.P.Maruthai Pillai and Sri.P.Govindaswamy, Century Flour Mills Limited was established in the year 1953. In 1955, milling equipment, with an initial capacity of 25 MT per day, was installed and became the first pneumatic mill established East of Suez incorporating the direct pneumatic lift system. The company continued on their trajectory of expansion and in 1957, an additional plant known as the “B” mill was supplied, where the capacity of 25 MT was expanded to 90 MT. The final mill, a German product, was installed in 1960, with a capacity of 125 MT. Today, the combined milling capacity is at 290 MT per day, making Century Flour Mills a pioneer in the field and a force to reckon within the industry.

Our Brand

Century Flour Mills products are marketed under the “Rising Sun” brand and are amongst the best in the country. The company has been milling an average of over 80,000 MT per annum, with its turnover going into crores.

Products

Quality Check
Expert technicians at Century Flour Mills analyse the wheat samples across various parameters in the company’s laboratories. Our company recently underwent its regular improvement process regarding the overall quality across every product with the newest equipment from Buhler Rollers Mills. Our company has recently upgraded to a state-of-the-art facility that is on par with international plants.

Packaging
Good quality wheat is procured for the manufacture of Maida, Suji, Atta and Bran through railway wagons from the States of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and many more. An integral highlight of the process, the company has a fully automatic packing machine for packing ½ kg, 1 kg and 50 kg packets, whereas 10kg, 35kg and 90kg packets are packed manually.

The company has a Wind Power Division with an installed capacity of 4.80 MW at Muppandal, Palladam and Udumalpet. The power generated from these units are consumed by the company for production purposes and the surplus is sold to TANGEDCO.

ISO Certification

Century Flour Mills has been awarded ISO 9001: 2015 by M/s. TUV NORD and ISO 22000: 2005 by M/s. TUV NORD, the first flour mill in India to receive these certifications. Respectively, the first certification ensures good manufacturing practices and high quality while the second certification ensures hygiene and food safety on every product.

LABORATORY: The mills are equipped with a full-fledged laboratory and the quality is tested every hour to ensure that the products are of the highest standards before it leaves the company’s premises. 

WORKSHOP: There is a comprehensive workshop equipped with machinery imported from Germany, as well as properly trained personnel to maintain the equipment on a regular basis. 

TRANSPORT: For the movement of wheat during the production process and the delivery of wheat flour within the city, the company owns a fleet of Lorries for the same.

At Century Flour Mills, the processes we follow is done keeping the end objective in mind, which is delivering the finest flour (Refined Wheat Flour (Maida), Rava-Suji, Wheat Flour (Atta)) in its best form to our customers. This system was highly appreciated by the Roller Flour Millers Federation of India – Century Flour Mills was conferred the “Best Pollution Control Award” for the year 1992.

Research & Development Award
In 2000-2001, the company was awarded the ‘Durga Dutt Sahuwala’ Award for their Research and Development by the Roller Flour Millers Federation of India.

National Productivity Award
In 2000-2001, the ‘Best Productivity Performance’ Award in Cereal (Flour Milling) Processing Industry was awarded to the company by the National Productivity Council. The award was presented by Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries Government of India and Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Law & Justice, Government of India on 16th February 2004 at New Delhi.

Certificate of Merit Award
In 2002-2003, in the category of Cereal (Flour Milling) Processing Industries, the company was awarded by the National Productivity Council. The Certificate was presented by Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries on 26th August 2005 at New Delhi.

The First Award
In 2003-2004, in the category of Cereal (Flour Milling) Processing Industries, the company was again awarded by the National Productivity Council. The award was presented by Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries on 26th August 2005 at New Delhi.

Important Developers
The company tied up with ITC Ltd-foods Division to manufacture “AASIRVAAD” whole wheat with effect from December 2004. Today, ITC is one of the largest players in Whole Wheat Atta.
