About Us

Our Story

Founded by Dr.P.Maruthai Pillai and Sri.P.Govindaswamy, Century Flour Mills was established in the year 1953 with an initial capacity of 30 MT per day. The equipments were supplied and installed by M/S Robinsons of England and was the first pneumatic mill established East of Suez, incorporating the direct pneumatic lift. The capacity was expanded during 1957 to 90 MT/day by installing a new plant of 60 MT/day supplied by M/S Robinsons known as B Mill. In 1960 a new plant known as C Mill was commissioned with a capacity of 100 MT/day. The equipments for this plant were supplied and installed by Muhlenberg of Germany taking the total capacity to 190 MT/day. The cleaning and milling process are upgraded regularly keeping with latest trends. In August 2019, the C Mill was replaced with a Buhler plant having a capacity of 220 MT/day. Today the company’s installed capacity is 1,20,600 MT per annum.

Our Brand

Century Flour Mills products are marketed under the “Rising Sun brand” and are amongst the best in the country. Products manufactured are Refined Wheat Flour (Maida), Suji (Rava), Resultant Wheat Flour (Resultant Atta), Wheat Four (Atta) and Bran (Not for Human Consumption).

Products

REFINED WHEAT FLOUR (MAIDA)

A fine refined product obtained from wheat through a roller mill process, maida is used as the prime raw material in bakeries for making bread, biscuits, cakes, pizza bases, noodles, pasta, macaroni etc. In the Indian context, it is extensively used in making pooris, dosas, halwas, parathas, naans, samosas etc. There are 3 other subtypes for the same – Parota Special, Best for Bakery and For Biscuit Use.

RAVA-SUJI

Rava-suji is one of the main products obtained during the early stage of milling. It is mainly used for making sweets, uppuma, idli, dosa etc.

WHEAT FLOUR (ATTA) (Chakki Milled)

Wheat Flour (Atta) is a coarse flour product from the milling process. It consists fine particles of both good bran and flour. It is used for making Chappatis, Pooris, etc.

Resultant Wheat Flour (Resultant Atta):

A wheat product intended for human consumption, produced by milling cleaned wheat through a roller milling process followed by bolting to obtain the desired fineness.

BRAN

Bran is a byproduct of the milling process. It is the outer layer of the wheat grain and is mainly used as cattle feed, not for human consumption.

Quality Check

Expert technicians at Century Flour Mills analyse the wheat samples across various parameters in the company’s laboratories. Our company recently underwent its regular improvement process regarding the overall quality across every product with the newest equipment from Buhler Rollers Mills. Our company has recently upgraded to a state-of-the-art facility that is on par with best flour mill in the world.

Packaging

Good quality wheat is procured for the manufacture of Maida, Suji, Atta and Bran through railway wagons from the States of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and many more. An integral highlight of the process, the company has a fully automatic packing machine for packing of ½ kg, 1 kg packets and 10 kg, 50 kg bag

Wind Power

The company has a Wind Power Division with an installed capacity of 4.80 MW at Muppandal, Palladam and Udumalpet. The power generated from these units are consumed by the company for production purposes.

Solar Energy

The Company has commissioned a 1 MW solar power installation, the power generated from which is entirely utilized for captive consumption in its production activities.

In 2000-2001, the company was awarded the ‘Durga Dutt Sahuwala’ Award for their Research and Development by the Roller Flour Millers Federation of India.

best pollution control award

This system was highly appreciated by the Roller Flour Miller Federation of India – Century Flour Mills was conferred the “Best Pollution Control Award” for the year 1992.

national productivity award

In 2000-2001, the ‘Best Productivity Performance’ Award in Cereal (Flour Milling) Processing Industry was awarded to the company by the National Productivity Council. The award was presented by Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries Government of India and Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Law & Justice, Government of India on 16th February 2004 at New Delhi.
